Bathu was officially registered and Trademarked in 2015, our products Include uniquely designed sneakers, Loafers and apparel.
Bathu Implemented its proof of concept (POC) in September 2015 through the sale of its Prototype mesh edition sneaker in Alexandra, Soweto and Atteridgeville townships through sampled consumers.
Our loafer range and apparels will also be launched in the next coming season. We are driven by our identity, our passion to design unique shoes and a desire to always bring new products in the market.
Bathu first official project is our mesh edition sneaker which is uniquely designed sneaker with a colorful rubber and mesh material on top, we currently have the mesh edition sneaker available on a Navy Blue, Grey, Pink and light blue more colors will be launched later in the season.
Bathu was founded in 2015 by Theo Baloyi with the sole aim to tell a proudly untold South African township story to the world. Bathu is a common universal slang word mostly used in townships across South Africa in referral to any type of shoe, this word has existed in South African township for decades now. Theo Baloyi identified a niche in the retail business to conceptualize and establish a shoe brand around the commonly used universal word with a deep sense of meaning in the black society and tell this beautiful untold story to the world.
Our vision is to tell a proudly South African story to the world and be a leading shoe retail company, we have a desire to establish a brand which African’s can proudly affiliate with. We are driven by our identity, our passion to design unique shoes and a desire to always bring new products in the market.
